The Plan
”For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” NIV
With every new year comes new opportunities, and new focus. Along with this new beginning, also, comes the burden of ending some old things. The new year forces us to set goals and make plans to enhance our lives. We may want to make more money, get in shape, or cultivate our relationships.
While all of these things are great, I want to make sure we put seeking God at the top of the list. The scripture says that he has a plan for us. He knows the end from the beginning, and seeking him concerning that plan is the wisest thing that we can do. Each one of our goals should reflect God’s plan for our lives, but how can we know that plan without spending time in fellowship with Him?
Our current culture does not make obeying God seem attractive, but it is in God’s will that we find safety. He is a solid foundation. He is the only foundation that I trust to build my dreams upon. Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans”. I don’t think things can get any more clear than that.
God is the foundation on which we build our lives. Make sure that your relationship with Him is top priority. Write your goals. Pursue your goals, but do it with God. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He knows the plan. He has the plan. He is the plug.
Ask yourself: Do my goals line up with God’s will for my life?
If the answer is no, or if you don’t know the answer, I want to pray with you.
Lord, thank you for being concerned about every aspect of our lives. Thank you that you have a good plan for us. Lord, help us to begin seeking you first in our lives. Show us step by step what you would have us to do as we spend time in prayer. Keep us in your perfect will, and establish our plans as we commit our ways to you. Amen
